If you are IMiS client user from Notes interface you also need the appropriate annotation edit permissions to create annotations, ie. administrator could prevent you from create or edit annotations with appropriate Restrictions settings (see Restrictions Settings for more details). You can set default settings of some annotation tools in Annotations category of the Preferences dialog (see Annotations category for more details).

Editing annotations

To edit annotation properties you have to be in the document edit mode (see Documents for more details) and use annotation mouse mode (see Mouse mode for more details). If you use IMiS client from Notes interface you also need the appropriate annotation edit permission (see Restrictions Settings for more details). Select annotation and annotation properties will be displayed on right panel. There you can customize current selected annotation. Useful settings are under Basic and Advanced tabs. Annotation properties can also be accessed thru right mouse click on selected annotation to get the annotation popup menu (see Popup menus for more details). Use Properties option to get the annotation properties dialog and where you can edit the properties. You can also get the properties dialog with double left mouse click on the selected annotation, except for text and popup text annotation. The following figure is the example of the annotation properties dialog.

Set default annotations

Every annotation type can have its own customized default annotation. Select annotation type. Customize it by your desire and press button Save as default found on Advanced tab. Every time this annotation type will be selected it will already have customize settings.

Viewing annotations

Users that use IMiS client from Notes interface view annotations according to Restrictions settings (see Restrictions Settings for more details). Annotations are visible if the user viewing the document has the appropriate annotation view permissions. The exception is the redaction, which is hidden, if the user has See under document redaction permission.

Merge annotations

To merge annotation to the image select the annotation and right mouse click it to get the annotation popup menu (see Popup menus for more details) then select Merge command. Annotation now becomes part of an image and can not be edited any more.

All annotations on image can be saved for later use. First make annotation or select one on image. Right mouse click on that annotation to get the annotation popup menu (see Popup menus for more details). Select Save annotation as and New annotation to create a new entry or a previously saved one to overwrite existing annotation. You can use custom annotations by pressing Custom toolbar button on the annotation toolbar or from Tools menu by selecting Custom annotation tool. A popup appears with all saved custom annotations an all you need to do is to select the one you want to use. Note that if there are no custom annotations saved the Custom annotation tool is disabled.
