Case: Sometimes you just want to use IMiS/Scan application without scanner. Or maybe scanner is sent to repairs. Even when you disconnect scanner from computer, scanner’s driver is still set in IMiS/Scan application. So every time you start IMiS/Scan application some scanner drivers will start to inform you of missing scanner connection.

Description:

From version 6.2.612 on you can deselect scanner's driver with a touch of a button.
Open “Preferences” window. In list box select “Scan” category. Click on button “Deselect scanner”. Button will turn grey meaning no driver is selected.

Deselecting scanner’s driver is also possible in previous releases with a little more work and only for experienced users. It involves deleting registry key in Windows registry or changing initialization files.
First you have to check in Windows registry for key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\setscan.ini
If it exists that mean your driver settings are written in Windows registry otherwise they are saved in SETSCAN.INI file in Windows directory. (see Database 'IMiS Knowledge database', View 'All Documents', Document 'Selected scanner and its settings - ini file handling')

Scanner’s driver settings are in Windows registry
To deselect scanner driver. Find a key in Windows registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IS\IniFiles\setscan.ini\Scanner and delete value name “Driver”

Scanner’s driver settings are in SETSCAN.INI file.
Open SETSCAN.INI file in Windows directory. Under section “Scanner” find row with key “Driver” in it and delete this row.
Save and close this file.
