Barcodes
IMiS/BatchScan uses a Barcode Detection filter to detect barcodes. Whenever you use a barcode separator or manually add a barcode filter in the General category of the Profile settings dialog (see General settings for more details), barcode detection is done on every scanned page and all detected barcodes are also saved in the profile document.
Barcode filter configuration:
To make the barcode filter work best you have to carefully configure and test it. In the Barcode Detection Properties dialog first select the barcode types to look for. Barcode filter detects barcodes on the whole page by default, but it can also detect barcodes on the specified region. You can set region values in inches, millimeters, centimeters or points (just include 'in', 'mm', 'cm' or 'pt' after the number). It can also be a fraction (for instance '1/3in'). Barcodes are more likely detected if you are using higher scanning resolutions (recommended resolution is 300 dpi). You can also try to improve the scanned image with other IP filters before detecting barcodes (for example, first straighten the image with the deskew filter). Since filters are processed in the order that they appear in the Selected list, you need to add these filters before the barcode filter (see Image processing for more details).
Notes: Use Enhanced mode to improve recognition rate of barcodes on document with lower image quality.
Detected barcodes:
You can check the detected barcodes of the selected document by using Content command from Document menu or scanned documents popup menu. The Content dialog appears with listed barcodes values. Content command is only enabled if there were any barcodes detected on otherwise it's not (see User interface for more details). Content form can also be docked right to the preview area or left under the document list.
