IMiS/OCR Server settings
User can send image to OCR Server by clicking IMiS Menu action in document and then select Send object for OCR (see Send object for OCR for more details) or send it via email message with subject IMiS OCR Server request. OCR Server (see IMiS/OCR Server for details) has to be activated in IMiS Setup document, if you want to use this option.
Steps:
- set Activation to Enable
- choose OCR server engine - it depends on what version of ABBYY Finereader toolkit is your server build
- type the user name or e-mail address of your IMiS/OCR server
- select Send mode. As attachment means that user will retrieve object from storage and send it to OCR server as attachment. As object means that only link info about object will be send to OCR server and then OCR server will connect to storage server to retrieve object and process it.
In case of As object send mode connection between OCR server and storage server has to be enabled. Object can be sent to IMiS/OCR server as objects. That means that OCR server will connect to storage server to retrieve object. In that case, OCR server has to connect to IMiS Administration database to get connection parameters for storage server. If request is send from remote replica than it would also probably use IMiS Administration on remote server and that can hurt performance, because OCR server would need to connect to remote server. In this scenario it is better to create and select special IMiS Administration database on OCR Server's home Domino server to improve performance. This Administration database should include all storage servers that might contain objects that are requested.
You can also try IMiS OCR Server for DEMO purposes by creating mail message with subject IMiS OCR Server request, attach image file(s) in body and send it to address ocr.server@imis.si.
