Settings for IMiS/Scan and IMiS/View Users

After creating Storage Server(s), you have to create user profile for every user who needs to have IMiS/Scan or IMiS/View.

Users activation and license administration is done in IMiS Administration. Users have to be activated in IMiS Administration database to be able to use IMiS in Domino applications. We used to use profile documents for every user but there have been major changes in users administration in IMiS Administration database from release 4. The main problem was the fact that Notes database is limited in number of profile documents. That is why we decided to change architecture and from release 4 users is activated through "normal" Notes documents. User's document is very similar to the profile documents in previous version, only IMiS activation field is removed. IMiS is activated for user if document for user exists. User's licence is unactivated by deleting document.

We also provide conversion utility from profile to normal documents. You just have to replace IMiS Administration design with new release 4 (or higher) template and conversion utility creates new document for every activated user. When finished, utility can also delete all profile documents. Utility can be run from Action/IMiS Convert V3 -> V4.




Users can be activated by using New User, New Group or Multiple users action buttons in Activated view. With New user you can activate one single user, with New group single group and with Multiple users you activate multiple users selected from Domino directory. So groups and/or usernames can be activated. Code first checks if user is activated with username. If it does not find it, then it checks groups till it finds the first group where current user is member. We recommend not to use too many groups. It can hurt the performance. We recommend to create only 2 groups: one for SCAN users and one for VIEW users. With this approach, administrating licences can be done through Domino Directory.

Additional settings for scan users

There are some additional settings users activation documents for your workstation(s) with scanner(s). You have to set IMiS/Scan checkbox (see picture bellow), then you have to select Storage Type and then select server for storage type using Select from database button.



Storage server can also be set in IMiS Setup document of every Domino application. In that case you do not need to set storage server for every user, because code will use application setting. See Default storage server for more details.
