IMiS/Scan and/or IMiS/View

IMiS/Scan is an advanced imaging client with full support of ISIS compliant scanners, designed for use on Lotus Domino platform and suitable to work with Lotus Notes/Domino applications. IMiS/Scan can be used in connection with IMiS/Arc (see IMiS/ARC Server for more details) storage server, with Domino Document Manager and/or IBM Content Manager as an ODMA client, and simply work with local file system. Documents created with IMiS/Scan can be stored as attachments in Notes documents, as ODMA attachments in Domino Document Manager and IBM Content Manager environment, as links to objects stored on IMiS/ARC server (or LN:DI MSS server), as links to files stored on a file server or as files on a local file system.

IMiS/Scan can create binary or color image documents (depending on the scanner capabilities) in multipage TIFF or PDF format. PDF format is compliant to PDF/A standard used for the long-term archiving of electronic documents, which recently became an ISO standard - ISO 19005. IMiS/Scan supports many different types of image compression, like CCITT G4, JBIG and LZW and can also be used to view all major graphics file formats (TIFF, PDF, BMP, JPEG, GIF, ...). It can digitally sign documents. Additionally, IP (image processing) filters can be used during scanning for image enhancement and detection purposes. IP filters are available in IMiS/Scan+ edition and, together with OCR (optical character recognition) support, in IMiS/Scan++.

IMiS/View provides all the features of IMiS/Scan without scanning possibilities, but you can create new and/or edit images/objects using Copy/Paste or Import functions. IMiS/View++ includes OCR (optical character recognition) support.

This manual will guide you through all aspects of using IMiS/Scan and IMiS/View modules, simply called IMiS clients. It is divided into following chapters:
