Description:

1. Objects of different MIME types can be saved, retrieved and changed on IMiS/ARC server

With V3 we are able to store, retrieve and edit not just images, but also other electronic types of documents on IMiS/ARC server. Documents can be stored on IMiS/ARC server with Import file or Import attachments functions under IMiS Menu button. User has to select file from file system and then also selects TYPE of document as showed in the picture below:

List of possible document types is build from IMiS Document Types Administration document in IMiS Administration database. Administrator can add or remove document types from this list as seen below:

After document is saved on IMiS/ARC server, user can view it by pressing View button or edit it by selecting Edit document function under IMiS Menu button. Document is opened in its default application. The application is triggered or selected on OS level by file extension, selected for document type as seen in picture above.

It would be meaningless to select storage IMiS/ARC server for every user that use import functions in his profile document. That is why new setting is available in IMiS Setup document of every database. As seen in picture below, administrator can select default IMiS/ARC server for scanning and importing documents. If default storage server is not selected, then storage server from users profile document is used.

All these new functions can be restricted to user using Restrictions section in IMiS Setup document.

2. IMiS/Net agent can be triggered from single database

It allows administrator to select, where IMiS Net agent will be triggered.

IMiS/Net modul is used for viewing documents with Web browser. The main part is IMiS/Net agent that downloads document from storage and delivers it to the user through Web browsetr. Before V3, IMiS Net agent was part of every IMiS enabled database. With release 3, administrator can select different locations of IMiS/Net agent:

3. Attachment can be directlly saved to IMiS/ARC server

Similar to the Import file function described above, there is new Import attachment function under IMiS Menu button. This function works similar as Import file function. The only difference is that with Import file user selects source file from file system, while with Import attachment function list of possible source files contains attachments from current document. List is build dinamiclly and contains all attachments in current document.

This new function can be restricted to user using Restrictions section in IMiS Setup document.

4. Images can be printed without opening IMiS client (from IMiS menu button)

Users can print objects with IMiS mime type directlly, without opening object in IMiS client. This is available with new Print function under IMiS Menu button. After selecting image, normal Windows Print dialog appears.

This new function can be restricted to user using Restrictions section in IMiS Setup document.

5. All objects can be exported to file system

By using new Export object, users can export selected object from IMiS/ARC storage server and save it to file system. After selecting object, dialog box for selecting path on file system appears. Default target filename is IMiSDoc with appropriate file extension for mime type of selected object. File extension is retrieved from list of allowed document types in IMiS Document Types Administration.

This new function can be restricted to user using Restrictions section in IMiS Setup document.

See IMiS Manual for more details.
