IMiS/OCR Server and Windows Iteraction Services Detection service

Product:IMiS/OCR Server
Release:8.x.1211
Date:12/04/2012

Case: IMiS/OCR Server installed on Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2008R2 requires the Windows Iteraction Services Detection service to be enabled due to the fact that IMiS/OCR Server is currently an interactive service with a console window.

Description:

In operating systems stated above interactive services are prohibited by default in Session 0 (Console). For IMiS/OCR Server to run, Iteraction Services Detection service must be enabled. This service enables user notification of user input for interactive services, which enables access to dialogs created by interactive services when they appear. If this service is stopped, notifications of new interactive service dialogs will no longer function and there might not be access to interactive service dialogs. If this service is disabled, both notifications of and access to new interactive service dialogs will no longer function.

To run IMiS/OCR Server, go to Services, and start IMiS/OCR Server service. Iteraction Services Detection dialog will inform you that a program is trying to display a message. When you select View the message button, IMiS/OCR Server GUI is displayed in a sepearte window, where you can setup and start IMiS/OCR Server.

Currently, closing IMiS/OCR Server from GUI does not work due to error removing notification icon which will be adressed in the future release. Stoping IMiS/OCR Server service in Services window will not work as well. To stop IMiS/OCR Server, kill ocrserver_svc.exe in Task Manager dialog.
