Long printer name crashes IMiS/View

Product:IMiS/View
Release:1.95.3.
Date:12/20/2001

Case: Reported by a client:

We have a bug issue to report. We have found that with our current version of IMiS/View, there's a limit to the length of a printer name that it will print to. For example, we had a printer named HP_LaserJet_4_(GBHE_PRT2_X), and IMiS/View would crash with an access violation at address 544E4152 when any user tried to print to it. All other applications, however, would print fine to it. We changed the printer name to HP_LaserJet_4, and IMiS/View would print fine. We didn't test what the limit to the printer's name is.

Later, we changed that name to HP LaserJet 4 (GBHE-PRT2-X) and it crash too.

If we change it to HP LaserJet 4, then it works.

Description:

Not reproduced.

We have tried the same name (HP_LaserJet_4_(GBHE_PRT2_X) ... and some others (IMiS_Test_Long_Printer_Name_200) with IMiS 1.95.3 on Windows 98 and W2000 workstations.

We have also tried HP LaserJet 4 (GBHE-PRT2-X) and it worked too.
