IMiS/OCR Server fails with IMiSWeb error: Error opening local file

Product:IMiS/OCR Server
Release:9.x
Date:02/17/2021

Case: IMiS/OCR Server can fail when attempting to store OCR result file to IMiS/ARChive server from Notes Application job due to an error that occurs when imisweb.dll library's CopyToStorageEx function cannot read a result file from a local disk. The problem is related to the result file name containing non ANSI characters like čćđšž and due to the fact that current imisweb.dll library contains only ANSI versions of functions with string parameters. This problem will be resolved when WIDE versions of functions in imisweb.dll library are available and used in IMiS/OCR Server. Until that time the workaround for this problem is setting appropriate regional settings for non-unicode applications.

Description:

When IMiS/OCR Server fails to store OCR result file to IMiS/ARChive server on Notes Application job and you encounter error in IMiS/OCR Server log file:

IMiSWeb error: Error opening local file (source/target/temporary) or file not found. Check client log file (iarcio.log) for error details.

you should check and set the appropriate regional settings for non-unicode applications.

Open Control Panel and select Region settings.

When Region settings dialog appears go to Administrative tab. Locate Language for non-Unicode programs sections and select Change system locale.

Select appropriate Current system locale that supports problematic characters.
